Strange to see how different the same melody can be interpreted.
Initially written by Glenn Miller as Now I Lay Me Down to Weep in 1939 [yes, it's THAT old...], it was subsequently named Moonlight Serenade on its release on Miller's Sunrise Serenade album as a B-side, and became his signature tune. Lyrics were later added by Mitchell Parish.
